WEDDING VENUES - IS ONE OF THEM YOURS?

Hi everyone

I thought I would just make a note in a blog of venues where we have photographed Weddings and Venues on our patch [and off] as it were! We have six main ones on our website - the thing is that they do actively recommend us in their literature [and Fishmore Hall have said we can add them to our page] - we do however photograph Weddings all over Shropshire, Mid-Wales and into the Brecons, The Midlands, Cheshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire. We are in Kent this June! So wherever your Wedding is taking place - please get in touch and find out what we can do to make your Wedding Day a Dream Day. Hope to hear from you soon. Warm regards. Julia

THIS WEEK AT ROWTON CASTLE

Hi Everyone

The photo above is my view from my office here at home! Martin went out last Thursday and took the photos below! Winter wonderland!

We are at Rowton Castle later this week and I wonder if it will be the first snowy Wedding we have had there. It is a very romantic venue and although snow causes problems for travel and walking around - I think Rowton Castle will look even more romantic and I know that it will be very warm and cozy inside with the fires! So looking forward to it and even Georgina and John have said they would like a dusting of snow!

I know that it might sound like I am just saying this - the fact is that we have only four Saturdays left this June/July/August and I think we will be fully booked within a week or so for those months - which I have to say is totally fantastic!

If you are planning your 2011 Wedding - please just get in touch for our details - we will keep the pricing for anyone who books us before Christmas this year. Oh dear did I just mention Christmas again! It is a long way off though!

So a belated Happy New Year to you all. I hope to hear from you if you are planning your Wedding - I would love to chat to you about your plans!

Warm regards. Julia

Sad news about Shrewsbury today.

Hi Everyone

I was catching up on my emailing and about to blog for the first time this year - then I heard about the news of an explosion in Shrewsbury next to the Shrewsbury Hotel and very sad news that people have been hurt.

I think I will postpone my New Year blog until tomorrow.

COLOURFUL WEDDING AT WALCOT HALL

Hi Everyone

Well I don't know how I did this but at the beginning of September I forgot to blog about Pippa and Keith's Wedding at Walcot Hall! I know we were busy and I was also planning to send some of the photographs to the Florist so I think it got put on to another 'to do' list!

Anyway I shall right the wrong and blog about that August day now! The Florist was Gail at Astounding Surroundings. I was really knocked out by the fabulous colours of this Wedding - they were just beautiful.

Pippa and Keith had their much loved VW Campervan there at Walcot Hall - which was also a star of the day. I don't think they will mind me saying that they had no entirely decided that they would have a Wedding Photographer - when I explained what we were all about on the 'phone and they came to see us - they changed their minds! They also had the Fun Wall in the evening which went down very well indeed.

We had a really fantastic day with Pippa and Keith and their guests and as always enjoyed the wonderful grounds at Walcot Hall.

I have put loads of their flower photographs in this blog - again just because I love the colours!

So if you are considering Walcot Hall near Lydbury North in South Shropshire as your Ceremony and/or Reception venue - we know it well and always have a great time there!

Warm regards. Julia

AUTUMN 2009 WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY NEWSLETTER

Hi Everyone [the photograph above was taken in the beautiful grounds of Walcot Hall, Shropshire]

I wanted to just take stock today in my blog of this year’s Weddings and look forward to next year’s - [if you have a little time - look back at my previous blogs - just keep scrolling down they do appear - or go to the previous posts and the archived blogs].

We had a fabulous summer and in fact many more sunny days than we did last year. We’ve been at Rowton Castle Shrewsbury, The Albright Hussey Manor Shrewsbury, Walcot Hall Shropshire, Delbury Hall Shropshire, Mellington Hall Church Stoke, Ludlow Castle Shropshire, Albrighton Hall Shrewsbury, Madeley Court Hotel Telford, Shrewsbury Castle and Lake Vyrnwy Hotel and we’ve still to be at Haughton Hall Shifnal and again at Rowton Castle this year and The Hussey. We had eight Marquee Weddings which we love! We also got over to Solihull twice and the ProStar Stadium in Shrewsbury.

We have booked Weddings in 2010 for all the above venues and a few new ones too including Peterstone Court in Brecon. We shall go there for a site meeting with the London couple nearer to the Wedding. Also Soulton Hall near Wem will be a first. We are in Kent next June for a couple who live in Bahrain and we are so looking forward to that one for Emma and Peter. I know that Emma checks out my blogs - I also know she is enjoying the planning very much. They booked us back in January 2009 for their June 2010 Wedding!

Wherever your Wedding may be taking place – please get in touch for some more information from us including a PDF of pricing which I can send with an email.
As we live about 8 minutes from Rowton Castle Shrewsbury we are finding that we are there more and more – we love it there. We often photograph weekday Weddings at Rowton Castle Shrewsbury and can offer a full day coverage or a smaller coverage up to the Wedding Breakfast on weekdays. Get in touch for details.

In the past we have also been at Hawkstone Park Hotel Shrewsbury, Park House Shifnal and Hadley Park House Telford, Davenport House Bridgnorth, Overton Grange Ludlow, The Mill Hotel near Bridgnorth, Goldstone Hall Market Drayton, Adcote School near Shrewsbury and Weston Park Shropshire and hope to be there again in the future.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Warm regards. Julia

DIGITAL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

An excerpt from Beth's email to me after we had had a Review Meeting to finalise their Wedding Album:
"We just wanted to thank you for the lovely hours you spent with us looking at the design of the album. It was so exciting to get a glimpse of what it will look like and we can't wait to see the finished thing. It made it so personal to design the front cover and edit the inside pages too with you - it's something else about the wedding that we'll always be able to remember and cherish. Thank you for putting up with our experimenting!"

Hi Everyone

We are at Rowton Castle for the Wedding tomorrow and I have been doing some work on our website today which should go live in a day or so. There will be photographs to go with the names of some of our lovely couples on the About Us page!

I thought I would just mention three points about our service:

1. As professional digital photographers we always creatively optimise each image with the lastest software using our own techniques. All our photographs are edited to a high finish. Always check that your Wedding Photographer includes this important service.

2. There is unlimited shooting on a Wedding Day. There is no limit set to the number of images taken on the day. They can all be available on a high resolution print-ready DVD.

3. We use beautiful Wedding Albums - we have the best partners in the world - Queensberry. Time is spent on creative album design in house by Martin and we always invite you to a Review Meeting to approve your Wedding Album - we don't have it put into production until you are 100% happy with it.

You will see that the photograph above of Beth and Luke at Delbury Hall has been edited from the original below. Beth and Luke loved this one of them wandering around the lake and Martin removed the drainage apparatus - this is now one of their favourite photographs!

We have been very busy with enquiries in the last fortnight - especially for next Autumn - please get in touch for some more information or a chat on the phone about your Big Day!

Warm regards. Julia

Lake Vyrnwy Wedding

Hi Everyone

We spent a wonderful afternoon with Mirinda and Mark and their families a few weeks ago on a Thursday at Lake Vyrnwy Hotel about 30 minutes from us. I have just put a few here from the few hundred we got for them.

Martin and I love Lake Vyrnwy and the sky there changes from minute to minute. We had a little rain and then it became very sunny and warm! The first photograph here and the last one of my blog were taken 2 minutes apart! Mirinda and Mark had their lovely children there with them - all of them so much fun!

We went down to the Lake edge's with Mirinda and Mark in our 4x4 and the videographer came too [in his car!]. He arranged Mirinda and Mark with their children to walk across the grass and we were happy to get stills! We then took the happy Bride and Groom for a walk on the 'beach'.

We love Lake Vyrnwy and its Hotel and are always happy to photograph Weddings there.

This is a Friday blog so will wish you all a happy weekend. :-)

MARVELLOUS AT MELLINGTON HALL

Hi Everyone

What a fabulous day we had with Nicola and Ben a few weeks ago! It was a quintessential summer's day and in fact we have had - on the whole - very good weather this year! Nic and Ben got married in the most idyllic country Church near Church Stretton and on the way to Mellington Hall we stopped off and got a few photographs with the beautiful countryside as a back drop.

Mellington Hall near Church Stoke is a gorgeous Wedding Venue in the Welsh Marches. It is only about 25 mins from us [and about 25 miles from Shrewsbury via Pontesbury] and we have photographed a few Weddings there now and love being there! Its long drive is very impressive and the Hall stands in 280 acres of landscaped gardens. It is a very friendly place and run to a very high standard with very professional and attentive staff.

I have chosen about two dozen photographs from the 800 we took that day which Nic and Ben have on their print-ready DVD! I think I can understand how our couples say that it is tricky to get the choice down to 100 or so for their Wedding Albums! I hope that my choice just gives a flavour of the day - the story.

WEEKDAY WEDDING AT ROWTON CASTLE

Hi Everyone

Well I am on a bit of a roll this week - second blog! Check out yesterday's blog about our Shrewsbury Castle Wedding!

We had a lovely afternoon with Anita and Julian at Rowton Castle about three weeks ago for their weekday Wedding. I was with Anita whilst she got ready and Martin was with the Guys and got loads of casual ones with them before they got into their suits and then some relaxed ones when they were suited and booted!

Anita and Julian's adorable little Daughter Jasmine took it all in her stride! She had the cutest little Bridemaid dress - see below! Anita's shoes were very sparkly!

Anita and Julian had just want they wanted at Rowton Castle [10 minutes from us].
We were with Anita and Julian to get a few hundred photographs of their fabulous day! Do get in touch with us and I will email you our PDF of Pricing - we have full day coverage and small coverage too - we can suit all requirements!
Our Fun Wall is very successful at Rowton Castle in the Georgian Room - have a look at a video that Andy at Cam 3 created for us of the Fun Wall at Rowton Castle! Click here.
I do mention this every blog - Martin does contemporary effects on some photographs but always leaves the original on the print-ready DVD! Any photograph can be turned black and white - and I know that our couples are very keen on the black and whites!
Warm regards. Julia

SUNNY AT SHREWSBURY CASTLE AND ATTINGHAM PARK

Hi Everyone
A month ago we had a lovely day with Sarah and Kristien. Their Ceremony was at Shrewsbury Castle and after at the Pro Star Stadium. Sarah got ready at The Prince Rupert Hotel and I was with her whilst she and her Bridesmaids got ready. Before arriving at the Pro Star Stadium we drove with just Sarah and Kristien to Attingham Park and got some fab photos there.
Sarah had the most lovely purple shoes and gorgeous dress! We did the Fun Wall for them in the evening and they danced the night away!
I will be blogging about two more Weddings tomorrow!
Just to say that when Martin has done an effect on a photograph - our Brides and Grooms get the original on the print-ready DVD as well! I have chosen quite a lot of contemporary effects examples below - because I think that they look so fab!
Warm regards. Julia

LOVELY WELSH MARQUEE WEDDING

Hi Everyone

Well with the four Weddings completed last week I have a bit of time to catch up on our Weddings this month. Cerys and Richard were married on 1 August at a Church near Welshpool and had planned a New York/Tiffany themed Marquee Reception which was stunning. Jo at Elegant Finishing Touches supplied and fitted the chair covers and arranged the Feather Table decorations. I have to say that how Jo ties such beautiful bows over and over again I have no idea!

I have posted some photographs from Cerys and Richard's Wedding and want to flag up that all the contemporary effects which Martin creates for the print-ready DVD are done with all our DVDs - Martin does always leave the original too!

Cerys was accompanied into the Church by her Brother - Wyn - and very proud he looked too.

By arrangement with the owners of Glansevern Hall and Cerys and Richard we spent a little time at the Gardens on the way to the Reception.

Well - a short blog today as I shall be catching up with all this month's Weddings this and next week.

Get in touch if you would like some idea of our packages.

WEDDINGS IN AND OUT OF SHROPSHIRE!

Hi Everyone
We have had four Weddings in this week [Solihull/Rowton/Lake Vyrnwy & Mellington Hall]. Our Church/Marquee Wedding is in South Shropshire tomorrow with a marquee at Mellington Hall. I will blog next week about our recent Weddings which have all been fabulous. We have been in Evesham at Wood Norton Hall and Solihull at the Forest of Arden and also our our local venue Rowton Castle and Shrewsbury Castle and another venues near us Lake Vyrnwy Hotel and Delbury Hall. So in and out of Shropshire!
Our last Wedding this month will be at Walcot Hall - another one of our favourites.
I just want to give a shout to some suppliers and services we have worked with and would happily recommend. A Touch of Class Wedding Cars - Terry Gill DJ - Ludlow Catering - Tipples Bar - Cam3 Video and PVP Video.

In the last week I have had to say we are already booked to Brides for 19 September 2009, 29 May 2010 and 3 July 2010 and as about 50% of our 2010 Summer Saturdays are booked already - I would say just get in touch with me if you would like some pricing information and a chat on the phone about your thoughts for your Wedding Day. You can not be too early.
So I am off to type up the Photography List for tomorrow and I will be back next week with some photographs from all our recent Weddings.

Have a great weekend - just fill in the form on our contact page to get in touch.
Warm regards. Julia

ROMANCE AND FUN AT ROWTON CASTLE

Hi Everyone
We are very local for our Wedding tomorrow and we are doing the Fun Wall with a New York theme as the Bride and Groom got engaged in New York and they have organised a box of props for the Fun Wall - really looking forward to that. We saw the marquee last night as we popped in to see how it was all going. It all looked fab and Jo from Elegant Finishing Touches was putting the chair covers on and styling the marquee.

We had a fabulous day at Rowton Castle two weeks ago and I thought I would post a few of Jo and Adam's photographs - mostly to tell you about the print-ready DVD which is always available to the Bride and Groom. As we shoot digitally - all photographs are in colour - and they are all in colour on the DVD. However, Martin spends a few hours turning some of them black and white and also sepia - always leaving the original on the DVD too. So the first one here is in colour and the next one was in colour on the DVD and then turned B&W and all the others were on the DVD in colour too. We will always turn any photograph B&W on request too for the Album or in fact the DVD. We go that little bit further to make the most of the resource of photographs we capture on your Wedding Day. We are 10 minutes from Rowton Castle and love photographing Weddings there - all year round!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend - it is supposed to be quite sunny!
Warm regards. Julia
01938 570069
Have a look at my other blogs too if you have time!
P.S. 5 August 2009 - I am adding this link to a small video of Jo and Adam's Fun Wall at Rowton Castle - click here and it will lead you to Vimeo - switch HD off as it streams better then! It is quite typical of the fun everyone has with the Fun Wall - guess it does what is says on the tin!
This was very kindly filmed by Andy at Cam3Weddings we all had a great day on 17 July 2009! Jo and Adam are just back from honeymoon and we have posted their print-ready DVD to them today!

ROMANCE IN BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS AT DELBURY HALL

Hi Everyone

I am trying to catch up on our lovely Weddings and Beth and Luke - who got married on 20 June 2009 - had their print-ready DVD last week so I thought I would post some of their very romantic photographs. They had a Church Wedding in South Shropshire and then after at Delbury Hall, Diddlebury, near Craven Arms, Shropshire. A great favourite of ours!

They did in fact book us on 26 September 2007. I think they wanted it ticked off their list of 'things to do'!

I was with Beth whilst she got ready at home and Martin was with the Guys. We had a fabulous day with them and did not even have to dodge the showers - it just rained whilst they had their Wedding Breakfast. At Delbury Hall there are the most wonderful grounds to enjoy and we always make the best of them. We walked around the lake with Beth and Luke and they really enjoyed 15 minutes just walking hand in hand and having a private chat!

Martin turned this photograph above sepia - it is in full colour below - and Martin always does a few contemporary effects on some of the photographs for the DVD - but always leaves the original!

Beth and Luke had planned their Wedding with great attention to detail and I loved the lavender!
The Coach House at Delbury Hall is a great venue for not only your Wedding Reception but also your Wedding Civil Ceremony - if that is what you are planning!

I just wanted to share a few of Beth's words with you - email received when they got back from Honeymoon:
"We just wanted to send a quick email to thank you and Martin so much for helping to make our Wedding Day such a wonderful, perfect and relaxed day. Thank you for your priceless support, right from our first meeting two years ago to the pre-wedding meeting and the day itself. It really was like having some extra friends at our side to lean on."
Email received yesterday:
"Thank you so, so, so much for the gorgeous photographs which we have spent several happy hours looking at over the weekend. You have captured every moment of our day and it's brought all the wonderful memories flooding back - we are so thrilled with them."
We've such a busy Summer and Autumn/Winter ahead - please get in touch if you would like to chat about your Wedding Plans for 2010 and beyond and I can send our pricing by email immediately.
By-the-way - the caterers were Sue and Chris Hinks and their highly professional service and gorgeous tasting food is worth checking out.
Warm regards. Julia

WONDERFUL WEDDING ON A RAINY DAY!

Hi Everyone

I have blogged about this fabulous Wedding a little more below these photos! The couple's gorgeous little Daughter was one of the Bridesmaids - so beautiful! The Bride and Groom - Toni and Jon - were very generous hosts and they totally spoiled their guests. The Champagne flowed, the flowers were sumptuous, the delicious food in abundance and the totally naughty puddings were such a temptation - see photo below.

So yes the heatwave seems to be over for now - back with some rain. I just wanted to blog about a Wedding we photographed on 6 June. Yes it rained. Weather is not personal. The detailed planning of the Wedding by the couple - Toni and Jon - shone through. I was so impressed by the attention to every detail and I know that the lovely Toni had a very big part in the planning. We were at St Giles in Shrewsbury and then after at Stokes Barns near Much Wenlock, Shropshire. The Barns are a great venue to have a personal, bespoke Wedding - the marquee is placed a long way from the farmhouse and loads of bunkhouse accommodation is available and lots of surrounding land.
Toni and Jon put on a very entertaining evening for everyone with specially brought in acts and also a great band - Acid Jam - and the Bride even sang with the Band - she had kept her fantastic voice a secret from us and perhaps a few other people! We put up the Fun Wall for the evening too and that was very much enjoyed by everyone and I thought I would just put the last photograph on of a lovely lady who seemed to defy the law of gravity! A great time was had by all!
Get in touch if you are planning your Wedding - we have a few dates left this Autumn and the main dates for next Summer are being booked. I was surprised to see that enquiries were fewer whist Wimbledon was on and now I have a dozen or more just come in! Love it!
Warm regards. Julia

ROMANCE AND MAGIC AT THE ALBRIGHT HUSSEY MANOR, SHREWSBURY

Hi Everyone
Well I have slipped a little on the posting of photographs from our Weddings - better late than never though! We had the most fabulous day with Victoria and Duncan at The Albright Hussey Manor in Shrewsbury on 5 June. The Ceremony was held on the lawn and it looked fantastic - a very unique and magical setting. We do love it at The Hussey! In fact, Martin's Daughter's Wedding in June 2006 was the first Ceremony outside and it never fails to be the most romantic Wedding setting.

I have only put a few photographs here from the hundreds on the DVD - we expect to hear that Victoria and Duncan are back from their honeymoon and we can then get the DVD to them. I have included a photograph of the Imperial Suite as well as I thought it looked beautiful - as it always does.

Duncan and the Guys arrived in a stretched Hummer which I know they enjoyed!

We have already booked half a dozen Weddings at The Hussey for 2010 and hope that that figure increases as we love the beauty of the venue and the professionalism of the management and staff and always feel at home there. We know that couples and their guests have the best of days there.

One special feature - which we try and include in our photographic list - is the lane at the back of the Hotel - weather permitting. If you have a look at our Album Presentation on our website [also on The Hussey's Website - Weddings and then View Album] and the first layout of our e-Brochure you will see how much fun it is to get round there which we always try and do.

Please get in touch if you have fixed your date - I am always - well almost always here! We already know many wonderful venues - if your venue is new to us - we always have a site/briefing meeting with you there pre-Wedding.

Warm regards. Julia

We always accomplish an online gallery for all our couples - password protected - however we ask them to choose about 200 photographs from the some times 800 or so photographs we get on the day - as we cannot host so many and we want them to make their own choice anyway for online viewing.

I have actually networked with Martin's computer today and picked these photographs from his folders - he is just finishing the post-editing of my hundreds of photographs at the moment - as all digital photographers should do really - just to check them! He is very skilled in Adobe Photoshop and if he does a contemporary effect on a photograph he will always leave the original on the DVD - I will blog in the next couple of days with some of the romantic ones which Martin and I both took! There are some stunners!

SHREWSBURY CATHEDRAL AND A BIT OF A WALKABOUT!

Hi Everyone

Well two Weddings last weekend - Friday at The Albright Hussey Manor, Shrewsbury and Saturday at St Giles' Church on Wenlock Road, Shrewsbury and then after at Stokes Barns, Much Wenlock with a big marquee Wedding. I will blog with photos next week.

The photographs below are from 30 May at Shrewsbury Cathedral [the Reception was at Madeley Court, Telford]. At the site/briefing meeting before the Wedding we all hatched a plan to stop at the oxbow river bend on the River Severn on the way to the hotel. Glorious weather and the lovely Anna and Rob had a little walkabout in the summer sun! Their idea was that all the guests would be at the Hotel when they arrived and it all went to plan beautifully.

We accomplished the Fun Wall for them in the evening and it was enjoyed by all!

We often plan with our couples to make the very most of the day by stopping off somewhere on the way to the Reception. Most agree it is lovely to arrive when all the guests are there. We often stop in the countryside and the couple bring a bottle of bubbly to have whilst they have a bit of chill. We love couples to bring their ideas to the table. We don't say 'this is what we do - this is what you will have' - we say 'what do you want to do?'

As we did with Charlotte and Alex the week before [last blog] we stopped at a golf course with the permission of the owners [this was Charlotte's Mum's idea] to get some photographs before going on to Fishmore Hall, Ludlow. Last year Martin found himself twice in a helicopter - as that was the couple's transport to the Reception. Every day is different and that is what we love.

When you are considering and short listing your Wedding Photographers just get in touch with me and I will send you our pricing by email for your immediate information gathering and I can also pop the folder in the post to you and later we can arrange a meeting [or chat on the phone] about your Big Day.

Benefits of having Spinning Your Dreams at your Wedding:
  • Support and guidance throughout your pre-planning, preparation on the day and the day itself - you are in safe hands.

LUDLOW CASTLE & FISHMORE HALL

Hi Everyone
Just thought I would put on a few photographs from the hundreds we got on 23 May for the lovely Charlotte and Alex who are due back from honeymoon this weekend. I was with Charlotte whilst she was getting ready at her parents' house - so we have dozens of getting ready photos. Her Bridesmaids were there too and I have many photographs of her being laced into her fabulous Wedding Dress. I thought I would just choose a few fun photos from the hundreds [800+] that we have.
Ludlow Castle Ceremony Room looked amazing with the most beautiful flowers - the colours were so vivid - plums, pinks and purples. Everyone had bubbly and canapes on the lawn for an hour or so after the Ceremony and then the Reception was at Fishmore Hall. On the way to the Reception Charlotte had asked [at our site/briefing meeting a few weeks ago] if we could stop at a place to get a few extra candid photos - so we did and when we arrived at Fishmore everyone was there and the confetti was thrown as they ascended the steps!

We accomplished the Fun Wall here too - there is a room just off the Reception area at Fishmore to the left and it was perfect to set up the studio. It was enjoyed by all - as it always is!

We were at Shrewsbury Cathedral on Town Walls last Saturday and after at Madeley Court, Telford - so I will post some photographs from that day next week.
We have a Wedding at The Albright Hussey, Shrewsbury tomorrow and a Church and Marquee Wedding near Shrewsbury on Saturday. It's all go!
Hope to hear from you if you are planning your Wedding - it is never too early to contact us! A number of the main summer Saturdays have been booked already for 2010!
Warm regards. Julia

WEDDING FAYRE AT MILLERS OF NETLEY - MARQUEE VENUE IN SHROPSHIRE

Hi Everyone

Are you shortlisting venues for your Wedding Reception? Have a look at Millers of Netley near Shrewsbury - we were there last Sunday at their first Wedding Fayre.

We had a really lovely time at the Wedding Fayre at Millers of Netley last Sunday. There's a lot of interest in this brand new exclusive marquee venue. It's setting is beautiful in the countryside just outside Shrewsbury.

Here are a few of the fabulous suppliers who were there:
Cakes - http://www.cakecreationsonline.co.uk/ - 01885 410 433 - Charlotte Bateman
Jewellery and favours and balloons [and lots more] - Princessesdreams09@yahoo.com - 07972311528 - Sarah Milner

Hats - allisonray@btinternet.com - 07970 632850 - Allison Ray
Wedding Dresses - http://www.hayleyj.co.uk/ 01743 235140 - Hayley J
Formal Suit Hire - http://www.peterposh.co.uk/ - shrewsbury@peterposh.co.uk - 01743 467105 - Tom Parker

Florist - http://www.myfairladyflorist.com/ - 07805 222861 - Dee
As Wedding Photographers we love this venue - with its possibilities for photographs - it is a really lovely setting. The 'personal aspect' of a marquee Wedding Reception cannot be overlooked. You can decorate it to your own specifications and feel that it is 'all yours'.
Kelly Miller at Millers of Netley - I know - would be delighted to show you around and give you all the information you need regarding this private and exclusive [and I might say unique] venue. One important fact is that it can cater for up to 250 - venues with that capacity are rare.

Warm regards. Julia

GLORIOUS AT LAKE VYRNWY

Hi Everyone
We had a wonderful Wedding at Lake Vyrnwy Hotel on Saturday. A little rain early on and then it was dry and we were able to get down onto the Lake edge - which we always like to try and do at Lake Vyrnwy. Alison and Steve told us that they had the best day ever! They have gone off on honeymoon now to Hawaii and we will have their print-ready DVD ready for them on their return.

Please get in touch any time and I hope you have had a look at our eBrochure on our new website.

HAVE A LOOK AT MY LAST POST - Wedding Fayre at Millers of Netley http://www.millersofnetley.co.uk/ on Sunday 17 May 2009 from 10 a.m. -4 p.m.
We will be there!

FABULOUS NEW MARQUEE VENUE

Hi Everyone
WEDDING FAYRE - SUNDAY 17 MAY 2009 - MILLERS OF NETLEY - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
We are very pleased to say that we will be exhibiting - by invitation - at the Wedding Fayre at Millers of Netley in May. We helped at their launch event in March which was a Charity Ball for the Help the Heroes Charity.
The one big advantage which this venue has is that it can cater for up top 250 guests for the Wedding Reception.
The setting for this brand new venue is stunning. Set in the beautiful countryside near Shrewsbury - the views are amazing and it is a rare thing to find such surroundings for a wedding venue. The lakes on the property are fabulous for photographic opportunities and I believe that there is a log cabin on one lake which is available for the newly married couple's first night - how romantic!
If you are in the stages of finding and booking your reception venue - make a date in your diary to come to the Wedding Fayre on 17 May 2009 at Millers of Netley.
We are offering any couples having their reception at Netley a special addition to their package with us - come and talk to us about it!
Warm regards. Julia

Wedding Photography and much, much more!

Hi Everyone

My last blog was about Rowton Castle - a lovely Wedding Venue very near to us and where we love to photograph Weddings. If you are booking Rowton Castle - just give me a quick call or email and I will let you know why we love the venue! We know that couples come to Rowton Castle from virtually all over the UK and beyond. My thought on the Wedding Photographers is that ones that know the venue are probably best suited to being there with you on the day. We are easy to pop along to see when you visit Rowton Castle - we are just about 10 minutes further down the Welshpool road!

We were at Wroxall Abbey near Solihull last Friday and we thought that Spring had arrived - a beautiful blue sky - but it has returned to wintery showers and a cold wind. My thoughts have turned to Walcot Hall - where we are this summer - and I am reminded how gorgeous this venue is in the summer. We live about 30 minutes from Walcot Hall and are always very pleased when we are booked for a Wedding Day there - we know the venue well.

Planning a Wedding? It is a big, big event to be organising. An enormous amount of emotional investment and tons of financial investment! I think you will want fun and caring wedding photographers - supportive and creative - on your team for the day - always having you and your guests' enjoyment in mind.

You might want a Wedding Album - you might not - or might feel it would be easier to deal with an Album and pay for an Album after the Wedding? You would definitely like all your photographs on a print-ready, high resolution DVD - so that you can control your wedding photographs. You would like a female photographer to be with the Bride whilst she prepares and a male photographer with the guys - making sure they are all suited and booted and buttonholed!

Well this is what Spinning Your Dreams Wedding Photography offers. Myself and my husband - guiding you through the day - keeping everything on time and making sure you are having the time of your lives! Get in touch for a chat - no obligation - let me find out what your ideas are about your Wedding Photography and your Big Day - where ever it may be!

Have a look at my previous posts if you have time - they are full of advice and tips!

Warm regards. Julia

Fairytale Wedding Venue - Rowton Castle

Hi Everyone

We live about 10 minutes drive from Rowton Castle and pass it every time we travel into Shrewsbury - we look over the grounds to the Castle - which is a beautiful 17th century, grade 2 listed building, set in 17 acres of tranquil grounds, six miles west from the historic town of Shrewsbury.

Quite perfect for a Fairytale Wedding. Martin and I know Rowton Castle very well indeed and it is a pleasure to be with a couple and their family and friends to ensure that they all have a brilliant day. The team at Rowton Castle are consummate professionals and the Hotel is run with great style and attention to detail.

If you are planning to look around Rowton Castle and would like to make some time to pop in on us too - then just get in touch - we work from home so evenings and some Sundays [as well as weekdays] are usually possible. We can chat with you about your Wedding Photography ideas and the options we offer.

Transparency!

Hi Everyone

I spent some time yesterday making sure we were high in the search engines results - which we are - and I also found myself clicking on other wedding photographers' websites.

I have noticed that suddenly there are quite a few low prices being advertised and yet, when I investigated further, it was a very basic price that would have to be added to in order to get the coverage that most contemporary couples want for their wedding photography.

This is called 'selling up'. Martin and I are very keen on transparency and our pricing structure has a price for Full Day Attendance of two photographers [including a site/briefing meeting before the wedding] WHICH ALSO includes a high resolution print-ready DVD of all your photographs.

QUEENSBERRY ALBUMS - I have put links to Queensberry's trade site below - as there are some beautiful illustrations of their Albums on the site -have a look!

Then we have prices for our beautiful Queensberry Albums and an Album can be paid for before or after the Wedding - giving flexibility. All our prices at VAT inclusive and we feel our pricing is very transparent!

I was also asked by a Bride yesterday if we chose the photographs for the Wedding Album or if she and her husband would. I said that our couples always choose the photographs for their Album and we also have a Review Meeting to finalise the Album and for the couple to completely approve it before it is ordered from Queensberry. We have put three album designs on our website - have a look [click here] ALBUM PRESENTATIONS! -

Also Queensberry offer digital storybook albums or the traditional mounted wedding album or a combination of both - which makes the most fabulous Wedding Album and quite unique in the Wedding Album World!

Please give me a ring if you have a moment or email me and I will send you our details and pricing - no obligation at all and come and see us if you are information gathering - we often see couples in the evening or some Sundays!

ADVICE I FEEL I MUST PASS ON!

Hi Everyone

I am in the process of writing a small booklet with tips and advice about Weddings including the Photography! However, I feel that I want to pass this bit of advice on now. I was with the Bride, whilst she was getting ready, at our last Wedding [which I often do] and I had a lift to the Church from the Hotel in the stretched limo [pre-arranged so that I could be with the Bride all the time].

We left the Hotel for the Church in good time. I was sitting with the driver and he told me he had come from Wolverhampton and had not been to the Church before. At the junction to join the main road the Satellite Navigation's lady said 'turn right'.

I was immediately concerned that this would be the wrong way to go to the Church as we would go down very narrow, windy lanes and this was a stretched limo. I said to the driver that I felt we should go left. He thanked me for the advice and said that if he had got stuck in a lane or something had been coming the other way - he would not have been able to back up. The Sat Nav then continually tried to get him to turn right down more lanes. I encouraged him to stay on the main road.

We got to the Church and I have to say I am not at all sure that we would have done had I not challenged the Sat Nav!

My advice then is this - if you are having Weddings Cars from out of the area or a stretched limo - find out if they know the way to the Church - if they rely on Sat Nav it could be a very big disaster!

If you would like my PDF booklet on Tips and Advice - please email me and I will put you on the list when I 'publish'. I know Weddings inside out and it is a fact that I am not just involved with the Photography. Martin and I are generally there all day - we are aware of almost everything and we will help with just about anything!

THE ROMANCE OF SNOW?

Hi Everyone

With this heavy fall of snow it puts me in mind of the Winter Weddings and the Wedding Photography - we are booking more and more Winter Weddings as the years go by! I suppose with Summer Weddings we hope for a sunny, dry day for the Wedding Photography - but somehow with a Winter Wedding - we secretly hope that there might be some snow - so romantic [if - of course - quite difficult for travelling so it is just a secret wish!]

Our January Weddings this year were so lovely - with the use of candles all the reception venues can look stunning and a Winter Wedding is always something to consider. Especially at some of our favourite venues:

The Albright Hussey Manor
Rowton Castle
Delbury Hall
Walcot Hall
Mellington Hall
Mytton & Mermaid
Lake Vyrnwy Hotel
Combermere Abbey - The Glass House
Weston Park
Hawkstone Park
Davenport House
- and many other venues.

Our Wedding Photography pricing reflects quite an advantage for January and February Weddings - as they are still not the most popular dates.

Please get in touch if you are thinking of January or February 2010 onwards as a possible Wedding Date and I can give you some information on our pricing. We also have special weekday packages any time of the year!

Hope to hear from you.

A Rowton Castle Wedding featured in "Wedding Ideas" Magazine

Hi Everyone

We have had some fabulous news that one of our Weddings from 2007 is being featured in the "Wedding Ideas" Magazine on sale at the end of January 2009. Our lovely Bride Clare organised it all! We can't wait to see it!

We've been told that we can feature the spread on our website after publication - so watch this space!

We love working at Rowton Castle - which is just down the road from us - and we think it is one of the most beautiful venues in the area - we always have a brilliant time at Rowton Castle.

If you are planning your Wedding to be at Rowton Castle - please get in touch and see what makes us different from other photographers and why 60% of our bookings this year are referrals.

2009 & 2010 & 2011 Wedding?

Hi Everyone

We are fast approaching Christmas and 2009 and I would like to wish you all a very lovely festive season and if your Wedding is next year - happy planning and preparation - get in touch - we would love to hear from you. We are booking for 2010 too and it is never to early to contact us.

Please have a look at my past blogs if you have time!

A Wedding Day is quite literally a day which might be a time when you spend the most money in one go - except for perhaps buying a house!

It's quite a scary thought really to spend that amount of money on one day. I think people do dedicate so much because it means a great deal indeed to couples and their friends and families. They are Dream Days - Wedding Days - couples and their families invest so much money in them but also so much emotion too - we understand that.

What Martin and I feel is that a priority placed on your Wedding Photography is one of the most important investments that you do make in your Big Day! Just recently I have been having loads of conversations on the phone with Brides and Grooms and also when couples come and have an informal meeting with us at our home one evening or Sunday. It is very interesting indeed what issues and points are raised.

We are often told that couples want relaxed days - not to be involved with formal photography all the time - reportage photography was popular a few years ago and still there are wedding photographers who do not organise anything and then the organising on the day is all down to you.

However, slowly the trend went back to traditional and reportage [photo-journalistic] combined on the day. There will always be photographs of the couple, family and wedding party which should be taken. Everyone looks fabulous - why wouldn't they all want their photos taken?!

Then - with Spinning Your Dreams - when we are not taking any organised photographs [which you brief us on pre-wedding] - we are photo-journalistic - capturing the atmosphere of the day and all the little details and always the fun!

What we also do - and this we feel is part of our strong reputation - is that we guide you through the day - so that you have the chance and opportunity to enjoy your day. You should not be thinking about anything but having a dream day! This is possible and it is what you deserve!

Martin and I are invited to be with you on your Wedding Day - we are part of your team on the day - with your happiness and enjoyment of the day at the top of our agenda! It goes without saying that with that in mind we always get beautiful photographs - our expertise - your memories!

We are off for our Winter Break in December - if you are planning your Wedding [we are getting enquiries for 2010 now] - don't leave your Wedding Photography to chance. We have some Saturdays left in 2009 - and many weekdays - so whenever your Wedding is - get in touch!

Warm regards. Julia

Hi Everyone
If you have time - have a look at my previous blogs - full of advice and ideas! We are well and truly in the Autumn Wedding Season now and we are looking forward to the run up to Christmas.
We are away for our annual break over the winter - so please get in touch if you would like to chat about your Wedding and - as I mentioned in my last blog - it is never too early to just get in touch! I will always email you all our information if we are available on your Wedding Day and then you have it to hand.

FAQ - something I get asked quite a lot!

IF YOU HAVE TIME GLANCE THROUGH ALL MY PAST BLOGS - LOADS OF ADVICE AND INFORMATION!

Hi Everyone

I am often asked "is it too early to be booking you?"

Well - and I know we are very biased - it is NEVER too early to book your Wedding Photographers! I have had two enquiries for a date in September 2009 this morning! Many of the main High Season Saturdays have already been booked for 2009.

If you get in touch with me - it will always be an informal chat by phone or email - with no obligation. Unless you get in touch the truth is that you will not know what a difference we can make to your Big Day!

I can send your all our information including pricing with an email as PDFs easily attached and easy to print off. You will see two new packages on our website - Gold and Platinum Packages. These are all in prices - price available on request. We also have our Deluxe Designer packages where you literally create your own - very popular indeed!

Why not email me - ask for the PDFs - no obligation - then you will have them to hand and can assess if we might be what you are looking for - and then come and see us informally one evening or Sunday [weekdays fine too] - nothing ventured - nothing gained!

It has also been mentioned to me by our couples that they were advised to "have friends and family do the photography - by their other friends and family!" Well again - how biased are we?! BUT - this is such a gamble. They cannot direct and run Wedding Days as we can and they generally photograph people they know and not those they don't know.

Stress free days are what we guarantee - on your team for the day - making sure it all goes to plan and you are enjoying every moment! Leaving you with perfect memories and fabulous photographs!

We work all over the Midlands and if we do not know a venue - we always have an in depth site meeting there with our couple.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Warm regards Julia

DIFFERENT APPROACHES!

Hi Everyone

I have some news and views for you today!

The news is that we have added another Album format to our range. The Coffee Table Wedding Book - a hard backed album where the pages are the thickness of a magazine. This enhances what we can offer substantially. A World Class Queensberry Album can be planned for the Bride and Groom or the Coffee Table Wedding Book - or in fact a combination of the two incorporating Parents' Albums and little Guest Albums - all very exciting. Please look at our Gold and Platinum Packages on the "Our Service" page which feature the new Coffee Table Wedding books - everything you could possibly want from your Wedding Photographers! If you would like more information -please just get in touch!

Second piece of news is that we are now offering a "Self Portrait Fun Wall" for the evening. Well we accomplished our first one last Saturday at The Albright Hussey Manor in Shrewsbury - and it was a roaring success! So much fun! What we do is set-up a small studio - with studio lights etc. and a long remote cable and once Martin has focused and aligned the group - someone in the group actually takes the photo! Although it is a fun/wacky thing - very much so in fact - many families took it as an opportunity to have a proper family portrait - which was great. The photographs will appear on the couple's personal website gallery and all those that took photographs can view them [and if they wish buy them - a family portrait without visiting a studio!]

We will be putting a slide show of some of them on our website within the next fortnight.

Now to views.....

One of our couples came to review their Album last week and we got chatting. They said that friends of theirs had been quite disappointed that they had had to pay a great deal more after their particular Wedding to buy extra photographs that they liked. This is called 'selling-up'. We don't do this. You can buy from us a print-ready DVD of all your photographs - at least 750 - from your Wedding and then you have control of them. We would like to flag this up to you. You choose the photographs to go into your Wedding Album as well and you have final approval of the draft - it is not created until you are 100% happy with it.

Lasting - it is very gratifying that at least 50% of our bookings for next year are from 'word of mouth' referrals - as they were this year.

Our main venues are The Albright Hussey Manor [25 mins from us], Rowton Castle [10 mins from us], Walcot Hall [25 mins from us], Delbury Hall [30 mins from us], Lake Vyrnwy Hotel [30 mins from us], Hawkstone Park Hotel [35 mins from us], Mytton & Mermaid [30 mins from us]. We also love photographing marquee receptions. We work at quite a number of new venues each year and we always have a site meeting there - so wherever you are going to be for your Big Day please check us out!

That's it from me - please give me a ring to chat about your Wedding - I love to hear what couples have got planned! On 27 September Martin will go with our couple in a helicopter to the reception venue - and I will drive there ready to get a photograph of them landing!

Warm regards. Julia

THE LUDLOW CATERING CO

Hi Everyone

I thought I would just do a quick blog today about a catering outfit we encountered yesterday at Delbury Hall near Craven Arms.

The Ludlow Catering Co. Martin and I had the privilage of enjoying the whole Wedding Breakfast yesterday and we thought the quality and presentation of the food was tops! We thought it was delicious and the team led by Willem was efficient and friendly. If you are looking for a caterer for your Wedding [or event] we strongly recommend The Ludlow Catering Co.

I will be blogging in a couple of days about a great venue which is offering an 'all in' price for a Winter Wedding. So watch this space. Bye for now.

Warm regards. julia

THINKING OF A WINTER WEDDING?

ARE YOU PLANNING A WINTER WEDDING?

Choosing what time of the year to have your Wedding is a decision which can be made for many reasons.

A Winter Wedding Day is very different from a Summer Wedding Day – however – I have to say that both are at the mercy of the weather!

One other consideration is the light on a Winter’s Day. What has surprised Martin and me over the years is that we can have a blue sky – no clouds – day in January just as easily as any other time of the year.

Adaptability is always the answer.

We pride ourselves on being totally flexible on any Wedding Day – we have taken the precaution of buying some lovely white wedding umbrellas and they do get used every now and again!

Also from November to March – we have darkness falling that much earlier than the rest of the year. It is always very romantic to have candles and the Church [if a Church Wedding] and the Wedding Breakfast venue can very romantic aspects for Winter Weddings!

Also flowers – especially around Christmas time and the New Year – can be sumptuous – e.g. deep red roses and golds in the colour scheme for instance. We have two fabulous florists on our website - they are just what you need!

Wedding Dresses also tend to steer towards a little more warmth [and even red] – or utilise a lovely warm wrap for any outside photos. Hayley J of Shrewsbury is a top talent for the most unique wedding dresses. My best advice with regard to the Wedding Dress is to always have it made for you - it will then fit in all the right places - you will have full confidence in it on the day - and I will say that that shows in the photographs - if some aspect of the dress bothers you - you will be ill at ease and that shows!

Hayley - who made my Wedding Gown - knows what suits you - can advise and consult with you and then you have the most fabulous experience associated with your Wedding Dress [top tip - a made to measure dress does not have to be much more in price than one off the peg - we have heard that when an off the peg dress is altered to fit - this can come to almost the same price!]

So if you are in the early stages and still pin-pointing a date. Don’t pass over the winter dates. One of our favourite venues –
Rowton Castle, Shrewsbury – is just perfect for a Winter Wedding and we are there a great deal in that season.

Also
The Albright Hussey Manor, Shrewsbury has a fabulous marquee style banquet room which is lovely for the summer – but if the room is dressed well with deep coloured flowers and loads of candles – it is just perfect for the Winter Season!

Other venues we think would be fabulous in Winter are:
Walcot Hall, Mellington Hall, Weston Park, Sweeney Hall, Mytton & Mermaid, Davenport House, Delbury Hall, Lake Vyrnwy Hotel, Curradine Barns, Packington Moor, The Bringewood, Albrighton Hall, Leighton Hall, Fishmore Hall, Loton Park and Combermere Abbey. Look on our
website.

All very romantic. So with these things in mind – the weather – the light and the romantic atmosphere of a Winter Season Wedding – you then need Photographers who can make the very most of such a day – us!

We were booked for two weddings in 2005 and 2006 – one in Tenbury Wells [December Wedding] and one in Abergavenny [November Wedding] – both Brides told me that they had had a real problem finding a photographer who would even do the wedding – they were told the light would be bad! Well we thought how un-creative! We booked both Weddings and had fantastic days.

So if you would like to talk to me about your Winter Season Wedding give me a ring 01938 570069. We travel anywhere we are wanted – we were at Rowton Hall, Chester and Moxhall Hotel in Birmingham last year and have been to Worcester this year and will be in Leicester this month too. We are in Llandrindod Wells tomorrow! So distance in the West Midlands and into Cheshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and the Welsh Borders to the coast is never a problem.

We are at Packington Moor Farm and Curradine Barns this year too.

One other thing before I close - we do have specific [lower] prices for November to March - so get in touch and ask me about them! Although not peak wedding season - it is a lovely, romantic and memorable time of the year to get married and we would take great pleasure in making sure that all your plans come to fruition - as we do with our all Weddings - and that you have the time of your lives!

Hope to hear from you soon.

Warm regards. Julia

TRENDS IN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Hi Everyone

I thought I would just talk about Wedding Photography Trends today because I want to get over to you what Martin's and my approach to our Wedding Photography is all about - we always ask at first meetings what kind of photography our couples want and they do describe - quite often - what they don't want!

Anyway below is a short description of the trends and the last one I mention might be of interest as this is the up and coming trend and I am happy to report that Spinning Your Dreams has been doing this for a while - it has been a microtrend - and of course like all good things it will become mainstream with creative/fun wedding photographers. Let me explain....

One of the more popular trends is wedding photojournalism, which has been gaining interest for well over fifteen years. With wedding photojournalism many of the moments and events of the wedding are captured by the photographers without any input or direction from him or her. Thus the pictures are as natural as they can be, and therefore tend to capture the aura of the special day. In some cases all the photos of the wedding are done in a wedding photojournalism manner, hence no posing of any kind will be seen in the resulting pictures.

Another wedding photography trend that is rapidly becoming popular is the mixture of the traditional and journalistic approaches. Here the wedding photographers will concentrate on getting as many pictures of the wedding day in a photo journalistic manner and also do a session where formal poses are done. These formal poses will normally involve the couple, their family and their friends.

One of the more recent directions in wedding photography is the adding of a bit of 'fairytale fantasy' to the picture. This trend seems to have had its advent in fashion magazines that cater to high-end customers and many wedding magazines. Many wedding photographers have used these 'fairytale fantasy' trends to offer couples unique and creative ways of doing their photographs. With this trend the photographers' main goal is to bring out the couple's beauty, and add a bit of glamour to their captured interactions. Couples who take advantage of this approach should be looking for creative/fun photographers.

So three approaches - we have been using traditional and journalistic styles together for years now - and in the last year or so the newer trend of 'fairytale fantasy' - in essence what this come down to is that the Bride and Groom - who look fabulous on their Wedding Day - will spend a little time with us getting a few romantic photographs which will just 'take things to a new level' - not groups shots with friends and family - not inaction shots with guests - all of those we still accomplish - but a few that reflect a special time together away from everyone - taking time to absorb the totally awesome day that a Wedding Day is and not forgetting your love for each other on that day - it is our pleasure to capture those moments and we take great pride in guiding our couples. Our style is all three trends above woven into a chilled and relaxed day! The perfect approach to Wedding Photography.

Get in touch to talk to me [01938 570069] or email me about your forthcoming Wedding - I will be delighted to chat with you about your thoughts.

Warm regards. Julia

WONDERFUL WEDDING VENUES!

Hi Everyone

We are at Ruthin Castle [northwest of Wrexham, North Wales] this week and we are so looking forward to it. We have already had a site/briefing meeting with our couple at the venue - as we always do - to talk about the day and the time schedule and the photographic opportunities. This is part of our personal service and it always means that on the day of any Wedding - we know our couples quite well and they have full confidence in us!

EMAIL FROM OUR 31 MAY 2008 COUPLE AFTER THEY HAD RECEIVED THEIR PRINT-READY DVD OF ALL THEIR PHOTOGRAPHS! This couple feature on our new home page in the middle!

From: Bxxxe, Tammy [mailto:Tammy.Bxxe@xxxx.com] Sent: 24 June 2008 15:59To: julia@spinningyourdreams.co.ukSubject: WOW!!!!

Hi guys- just a really quick note to say we have looked through the photos and WOW!!!! I don't think either of us ever thought we could look like that! You have captured the day so perfectly and I can see that we're going to have a real job picking which ones we want for the album! That's the beauty of having the print ready disc too though- we won’t feel like we're losing any!
They really are so beautiful and the family and friends we have shown so far are as gobsmacked as us. We can't thank you enough- not just for the beautiful photographs that you have achieved, but all the time, care, attention and support that you showed to us on the day too. We can't recommend you enough to friends- mum said you felt like part of the family on the day!
We'll get cracking and make sure that we have picked pics for the album and website in the next couple of weeks!
Lots of love, Mr and Mrs W xx

You will see if you look at our venues page that we work all over the region and some of our favourite venues are featured - this Wedding at Ruthin Castle will be the first one there for us - so not only are we looking forward to it - but also we will feature it later in the year on our venues page.

If your venue is not featured on our website yet - just get in touch and tell us all about it - we will be happy to meet you there - no obligation - and we can have a good look at the venue from all aspects. We have worked in Essex and up in Newcastle-upon-Tyne - so distance is no barrier to having us there to capture your Big Day!

We are only about 10 minutes from Rowton Castle, Shrewsbury and 25 minutes from The Albright Hussey Manor, Shrewsbury - we are at both those venues numerous time a year. About 30 minutes from Delbury Hall and Walcot Hall, Shropshire - where we are very regularly. Strangely about 30 minutes from Lake Vyrnwy Hotel too! We are very well placed for the whole of Shropshire and The Borders.

If your Wedding Reception is a marquee at a private residence - we specialise in advising on all aspects of the planning for this type of venue. We often have a site meeting [at the parents' home or a private venue] and we can help with the logistics of it all. We do know Weddings inside out!

We love to have couples come and see us - here at The Mews - about 15 minutes from Shrewsbury. First meetings can be an evening or sometimes a Sunday [or weekdays] - no obligation - just have a chat - look at our work and have us explain what we offer and a chance for you to explain what you have in mind for your Wedding Photography.

So if your Wedding is coming up this Autumn/Winter or 2009/2010 and beyond - just get in touch and we will tell you all about Spinning Your Dreams!

Warm regards. Julia

What is the difference between a missed moment and one that you keep forever?

Well, I would have to say US! We will capture those moments and they will live with you forever!

Hi Everyone! Well a momentous day today! We have relaunched our website and our good friends at http://www.caffeinate-it.co.uk/ have done a totally fabulous job! Thank you so much Laura and Mark!

We are having the most wonderful 2008 Wedding Season and as each week goes by and we enjoy weddings with our lovely couples - we have great memories of the ones that have gone and look forward to those still to come!

As I have said above - we are the missing link! The difference between a missed moment and one that you keep forever!

We are booking fast for 2009 and 2010 and I would say just find out if we are available on your date - a quick email or phone call to me and then we can find out if we are what you need! I love to chat to Brides and Grooms - find out what they have in their minds for their photography and the style and feel for their Wedding and then I can put their minds at rest.

Five minutes in the planning of your Wedding and it could be the best five minutes you spend. Why?

Well, we as photographers we simply direct your day - we feel this gets overlooked sometimes - and we are with you most of the day - you need to feel happy with that!

We also have a relationship with your guests and this has to be relaxed and always keeping them in the loop - they feel included and then you feel relaxed and you have what you are supposed to have on your Wedding Day - the time of your life - and fun all the way!

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Warm regards. Julia

Wedding Season and Warm Spring Weather!

Hi Everyone!

Although I gave some Wedding Tips on many Wedding Venues which are very close to us, Wedding Dresses, Wedding Flowers - and for flowers we highly recommend Sue Cotterill - Sue's number is [01743] 353924and most certainly Wedding Photography last year - click on the highlighted words here and it will take you to the archived blog - I thought I would just give a tip at this stage as the Wedding Season kicks in for this year and also we seem to be enjoying some well earned warm weather!
We enjoyed a fabulous Wedding at Packington Moor Farm near Lichfield last Saturday [3/5/2008]- having also had a fabulous day at Rowton Castle the day before! Both gorgeous Brides had taken my advice about their hair! I do advise that there are not too many little curls or little strands of hair around your face! I know that it looks fabulous in the salon or at the hotel before the Wedding - however - generally much of your time will be spent outside with spring and summer weddings - and the smallest of breezes will blow the small curls over your face and will definitely irritate you. Whilst Martin and I take photographs we are always looking for these things and will always notice if the Bride's hair is across her face - of course! It is just so much more simple to have either no curls/straight pieces of hair or just a couple which will stay well away from your eyes! Both our beautiful Brides this last weekend had taken this advice and they were comfortable and - may I say - very classic and highly photogenic with their hair up and a sparkly tiara! Just a tip!
I highly recommend a great young guy called Ashley at SY1 Salon on Dogpole, Shrewsbury for your special Wedding Day hair. Have a consultation with Ashley and he will advise you about the way your hair will look best for your Wedding Day - look on our resources page for other suppliers you will need!

Well wishing you all happy Wedding Planning and do get in touch - email julia@spinningyourdreams.co.uk or phone 01938 570069 - about your Wedding be it this Autumn or next year or even 2010 - we are booking that far ahead!

Warm regards. Julia

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

Hi Everyone - 22 April - it finally seems to have decided to warm up and start Spring! Long may it last!

This is an excerpt from an email I sent to a Groom this morning who has taken the leap of faith and booked us following a phone call and emails - the couple live in London. The Wedding is a Church Wedding in Shropshire followed by a Reception at a local hotel and then there are further celebrations in Leicester the next day - we will photograph both days! They had been considering relying on friends and family taking photographs as they felt that a wedding photographer might detract from the day - these were some of thoughts I emailed the Groom:

"Let me say from the outset that we would be delighted to photograph both days' proceedings and you have a great deal going on that weekend! Our feedback about friends taking photographs is that it disappoints every time – they are not professionals and they photograph the people they know not everyone! It’s not worth taking that chance – investment in professional wedding photography really needs to be high on the list – although we do understand that it is not tangible until after the wedding – when everything else is tangible before and during the wedding – this is why we feel some people overlook the photography.

However - and this is the most important bit – friends do not know how to direct a wedding – especially a church wedding – it takes direction after your vicar has married you – we take over and make everything run like clockwork with care and consideration and empathy – your weekend needs this input and your fiancée would be incredibly disappointed if things did not go well and then she also did not have photographic memories either! Good wedding photographers are worth their weight in gold! We are both tall too so that is a lot of gold!

Martin and I will be part of your support system on the two days and we carry a little kit of everything you might need – down to sewing kit and safety pins and sellotape etc and you would not believe it but I use it every wedding. At a summer wedding we have a cool box of drinks as you are very dry in the mouth after the ceremony and also on a warm summer’s day! Bottom line – we care! We are very worth having there – I think you may well be getting what we are all about! More than just photographers – we are a husband and wife team who love to help couples and guests have the best time ever and we do not detract from the day but enhance it – we know that because we have been told!"

I am getting many phone calls now for weddings this year and it is quite frustrating to say we are already booked. I do think that in some cases photography is an after thought and not invested in at the outset of planning. If you are planning for 2009 onwards - please get in touch - have a chat - let me find out what you want from your wedding photography and Martin and I will make those dreams come true! Never too early to just give me a call!

Warm regards. Julia

Something Special from Spinning Your Dreams!

Hi Everyone

Well we popped over to Liverpool to the Confetti Wedding Show to see Sarah Haywood - Sarah Haywood is the Wedding Planner extraordinaire.” Matthew Wright, Channel 5 TV - last Sunday. We also collected from her a number of her Wedding Bible Books and Wedding Planners which she had kindly signed for us. We are offering couples booking for 2009 and after the choice of The Wedding Bible or The Wedding Planner as a remarkable aid to planning your Wedding and something which will also become a treasured momento of the planning.

Feedback!

Hi Everyone

I thought I would share something with you - the feedback we get from our couples is that they did not really notice the photography [it was not in their faces] - it did not hassle them - they were relaxed and happy all day and that they felt like we had looked after them and their guests as if they were the most important people to us.

Well there is a reason for all that feedback - we do care - you are important to us - we take time to get to know you - we care about your memories on that special day not just the photography. It all works - if our couples are happy - relaxed - having the time of their lives - result - fabulous photography!

Wedding Days are costing more and more - the news today is that the average cost is £21,000. We guarantee that we capture that expensive and momentous day for all time - it's got to be done - make sure your photographers deliver and know what you want from the biggest day of your lives! We take a full brief and as always it's all in the planning!

Warm regards. Julia

New Supplier Directories for Shropshire and the UK

Hi Everyone

The very well established and highly respected Wedding Supplier Website www.weddingsinshropshire.co.uk is now under new ownership - the running of the Website has been taken over by Laura Clarke. It launched today and has some fantastic new features including wedding planning tools for Brides and Grooms and for anyone planning a Wedding. There is a free login for all those planning Weddings to access those planning tools.

Also the Website is very friendly towards Suppliers - who can also have a personal login to edit and change their ads whenever they like. www.weddingsinshropshire.co.uk is already a great place to start planning your Wedding and Laura expects it to become the premier interactive site in the County.

In fact she has a similar website for most counties in the UK and is also running www.weddingsingreatbritain.co.uk - the original format was so well established and very popular that Suppliers in other counties have asked for a weddingsin for their County!

Spinning Your Dreams is of course on the new http://www.weddingsinshropshire.co.uk/ as it was on the old one - and I wish Laura every success with this new Website. I think that this new revamped Website looks fabulous! It is easy to use and very contemporary and more than anything else very useful and effective for both people planning a Wedding and the Suppliers of Wedding Services.

I am very happy to endorse Laura's website and wish her every success - and I am happy to blog about the re-launch of www.weddingsinshropshire.co.uk today!

Happy Wedding Planning Everyone - Warm regards - Julia

THE START OF A GREAT YEAR!

Hi Everyone

A little late but Happy New Year!
Our new website has been live for about a month now and the feedback and response has been amazing!
We'd like to thank Laura and Mark at http://www.caffeinate-it.co.uk/ for creating such a terrific new website for us - we've loved working with you and are so happy that you will be maintaining the site for us too!
We are receiving so much interest and in fact have nearly booked all the Saturdays in summer 2008 and are fast booking up the Saturdays for 2009.

I would suggest that if you have firmed up your date – then just get in touch with us by email or phone – and I will within 24 hours send you our Information Pack with pricing. Then when you have both had a good look through all the information and the testimonials – you can come and see us if you would like. Evenings and some Sundays are OK as well as weekdays.

If you spent some time with us here at our home – informally with no obligation – then you would see that we are something very different in the Wedding Photography World!

I guarantee that you would have the day you are both dreaming of. That is always our aim and our pleasure!

I hope to hear from you soon and if you have any queries, please just ask. We will within about 2 weeks have the facility to pay online securely with cards – just being set up!

We now have a Client Management System on our new website and should you book us you would have a username and password just for your Wedding and post-Wedding your gallery would be hosted there. This is where friends and family can view your photographs and if they want buy prints securely online.

Although our Album Creator Partners are Queensberry of New Zealand [all our Albums are made from your approved draft in New Zealand] – and they are not far short of the best Albums in the world you do not have to have an Album. You can have a print-ready DVD of all your photographs – high resolution files – and then you can handle your Wedding Photographs yourself. The DVD can be copied to pass to family and friends if you wish – your choice.

So we are – when all is said and done – led by what you want – we take a full brief from you about your Day and have a Briefing Meeting for an hour or two prior to your Wedding when we talk about timings – family dynamics – and the photographs you definitely want on the day. We do not say ‘this is what we do – this is what you have’ we say ‘what do you want’!

We will also have a site meeting at your venues if we all think that will help in the planning.

Again – wishing you all a fabulous 2008 and if your Wedding is this year – 2009 or in fact 2010 – it is not too early to get in touch – I assure you. Don't leave it - prioritise - Martin and I can make sure all those plans come to fruition and that you have fabulous memories of the best day of your lives!

Warmest regards. Julia

P.S. Over the last 2 years I have blogged about all aspects of planning a Wedding - if you have time - please look at my PREVIOUS POSTS AND THE ARCHIVES and you will find loads and loads of tips and advice about planning your Wedding!

Hi Everyone

I have not bogged for a while and before we get on with a total revamp of our website [coming soon] - I thought I should blog now!

Firstly – if you are embarking on planning your Wedding please look back on my directory of blogs where I have given specific advice and even a time table of things to do.

We are booking quickly for 2008 and a quick – no obligation – call to me to check we are available on your Wedding Date would be time well spent. I say this as at our Wedding last Saturday, the Bride said to Martin and me that we were the best decision they had made about their Wedding Day. This is music to our ears – we adore being at Weddings and making sure all goes to plan – as the way the day pans out is mainly down to us – be it a civil or church wedding – and the hugs we get from the whole family when we leave after the first dance goes to prove that we are doing everything right!

We are based 15 minutes from Shrewsbury – on the Welshpool Road – and 8 minutes from Rowton Castle. We are 30 minutes from Oswestry and about an hour from Chester. We are 45 minutes from Telford and an hour from Birmingham. We love where we live in the Welsh Borders – beautiful countryside to come home to after a busy Wedding Day. We travel to Weddings all over The Midlands, Cheshire, The Borders and Mid-Wales and across the UK in fact.

We welcome couples to come and see us in Trewern [Post Code SY21 8DS] and often see couples in the evening and on some Sundays as well as weekdays. It’s easy and a couple of hours spent with Martin and myself talking about your Wedding – as the Bride said on Saturday – will be one of the best decisions you make about your Wedding Day – if you come to see us – we will tell you why!

Give me a ring or email me 01938 570069 or
julia@spinningyourdreams.co.uk and let me know your thoughts on your Wedding Photography. We follow your Brief for your Wedding Day - we are not on our own agendas.

I will happily send you all our information with an email or post our folder to you – just get in touch and add our information to your Wedding Folder – which I know can get quite full!

We are dedicated to fabulous Wedding Days and timeless, perfect memories! What more can we guarantee?

We look forward to hearing from you – be your date in 2008 or 2009 or 2010 it will never be too soon to be in touch. Don’t miss out on having caring, supportive, fun, passionate, creative and lovely people photographing one of the most important days in your lives.

We’ve just been booked for 10 May 2008 by a London couple getting married in Shropshire – the Groom’s email to me today reads:

“From what we've seen from your emails Julia - we can't anticipate there being any problems and we don't want to risk you getting booked by someone else.”

They are coming to see us when they are next in Shropshire. This was in response to my email with all our information and reviews. If you email me I will send you the same information and we would hope that your response would be the same! Of course if you are more local you can come and see us straight away!

Warm regards. Julia

WONDERFUL WEDDING VENUE IN SHROPSHIRE - IN A HURRY?

Hi Everyone

One of our favourite wedding venues in Shropshire has a few dates still available this year. I highly recommend this totally private venue - if you need a venue for a Civil Service this year in Shrophsire - consider Delbury Hall - if a Church Wedding - the Church at Diddlebury is just round the corner. Then of course consider us for the Wedding Photography - and you are what they call 'sorted'!

We photographed the first Civil Wedding at Delbury last year and we think you would have to go a long way to find such a romantic, exclusive and beautiful venue in Shropshire. We live 30 minutes from Delbury Hall - so it is very convenient indeed to meet couples there for a first meeting and talk about the Wedding in detail. We would always be happy to do that if it was more convenient for you when you are visiting Delbury.

What we are impressed about at Delbury is that - unlike some Private Venues who have temporary catering facilities - Delbury has a state-of-the-art professional kitchen for caterers to use - which is fabulous!

As a Wedding Venue it definitely has WOW factor! Don't overlook it!

Just a quick blog!

Warm regards. Julia

ARE YOU ABOUT TO PLAN YOUR WEDDING?

Hi Everyone

Yet another Friday – these weeks seem to go by so quickly during the busy Wedding Season!

I have mentioned before the great book the “Wedding Bible” by Sarah Haywood and you might be forgiven for thinking that I am on a commission arrangement with Sarah – but that is not the case! I just think that it is such a wonderful book to have by your side when you embark on planning a wedding and at £25 – it is a big book – it is worth its weight in gold really! Sarah has published her Wedding Planner now and it is worth buying to keep all your Wedding Documentation in order. Sarah has us on her 'people we like page' - have a look!

Sarah says that “there is no right or wrong way to plan a wedding. But it could be stressful and time-consuming when it doesn’t have to be”. Sarah has a Wedding Budget Checklist in her book and also these tips to ‘survive and thrive as a bride!’

Wise Money Management - plan only for the type of wedding you can afford

Be Organised – the biggest sanity saver

Present a United Front – create the day together and present a united front to families – leave a little room for family in-put

Respect and Compromise – be sensitive to the desires and expectations of your families and respect their views – even if you reject them. Be prepared to negotiate and compromise - especially if they are offering financial assistance! Delegate – behind every beautiful bride and gorgeous groom there is a fabulous and efficient team!

Bridesmaids and Best Man Selection – have a reliable Best Man and Chief Bridesmaid – if your closest friends are not reliable [!] – give them something else to do on the day!

Hiring and Firing – do not hire anyone or anything until you have seen or sampled their wares. Get every detail in writing – before signing a contract ask “is this your best price?”

Keep cool, calm and collected – be especially tolerant of your nearest and dearest. Don’t alienate anyone you’ll need later on!

Wedding Free Zones – have wedding free zones in your home and wedding-free evenings with your intended!

Planning Your Wedding - I have compiled below an outline list of things you need to do – there is a very comprehensive phase-line for each aspect of a Wedding in the “Wedding Bible”. If you are beginning to plan your Wedding - I hope that the list below will inspire you! Please get in touch with us to see is we are available on your Wedding Day - it is never to early to do that!

Have a great Bank Holiday weekend. Warm reegards. Julia

A RECENT REVIEW FROM A GROOM!

Hi Everyone

One of our Groom's Shaun has very kindly written this review for us - thank you Shaun!

In a word? Truelyfantasticallybrilliant!! Reviewer: shaun from Shrops

Jacqui and I were astounded by the brilliant photographs Julia and Martin took of our special day, they truly are fantastic! When we first saw Julia and Martin at the Shrewsbury wedding fayre, we both thought that they seemed very professional, yet very personal too. We both looked at other photographers at the fayre, yet once we met, Spinning Your Dreams were the only photographers that both Jacqui and I were going to be happy with, putting together memories of our special day in an album.

From the first meeting with them, we had no hesitation in booking them to do our wedding album, as it was then that we realised just how passionate they both were about making the day a very happy, memorable and stress free one. On the day itself, what can we say! It was a lovely warm day. They both showed just how much they love their work, and how much they care about their main couple. Julia and Martin weren't at all intrusive, bossy neither did they rush us about like a lot of other photographers we've seen.

The after care they both give their couples is second to none. We must say the mints and water as soon as we came out of the church took us both aback! That was just what we needed - we were parched! The whole day was a memorable one, and one of the most precious memories Jacqui and I will never forget is the kindness, professionalism, and complete understanding of our requirements they both showed us, this also goes for the after care with the utter patience they showed us.

The album was second to none! We are continually getting comments from people on how good it is. We recommend all who ask to Spinning Your Dreams. We also regularly look through the album, can’t get enough of it really!

If you are planning your Wedding - be it 2007 or 2008 or 2009 and we are getting enquiries for 2009! Please just give me a ring or email me! julia@spinningyourdreams.co.uk 01938 570069
Hoping to hear from you soon for a chat about your Wedding.

Warm regards. Julia

Hi everyone

We are very pleased indeed to recommend a very lovely Wedding Venue to you. We are about a 30 minute drive from Delbury Hall and once booked always meet our couples there for the in-depth Briefing Meeting nearer the Wedding.

We photographed the first Wedding in The Coach House at Delbury Hall back in June 2006 and found it to be a really great place and a very private venue for a Wedding.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHS: The photographs on the flyer - which is used for the venue - are ours!

MORE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHS: More of our photographs are included in the downloadable brochure on the Country House Wedding Venues website.

We know that any couple choosing this venue would be very pleased indeed with the whole atmosphere and we know that guests are impressed because they have told us!

If you are still at the stage of looking at venues - don't miss out Delbury Hall. The first Wedding we photographed there was for a London couple and I know that they adored the place!

NEW ROWTON CASTLE ALBUM - NEWS RELEASE!

Hi Everyone!

As I write this new blog the snow outside is deep and from the window today it was very pretty indeed!

I have two pieces of great
news!

NUMBER ONE -
OUR NEW SHOW ALBUM WHICH FEATURES ROWTON CASTLE, SHREWSBURY - THE 7TH MOST POPULAR CIVIL SERVICE VENUE IN THE UK!

Our new
Show Album for Rowton Castle has arrived from New Zealand from our Album Creators - Queensberry [click on Queensberry to go to their website]. It is beautiful and if you are considering Rowton Castle please come and see us and we will show you this Album which is 15" x 12" and its cute total half copy. They both have a photographic cover of Rowton Castle in sepia. If your Venues are else where please still come and see this new Album as it gives the best possible idea of how we can draft and have created a totally bespoke designed Album which - if the feedback is anything to go by so far - has the WOW FACTOR! Come and see us - no obligation at all - to have a chat about your Wedding - and if you are considering Rowton Castle - which is so popular - you may be looking at 2008/2009 - don't leave it though come and see us. We live only about 15 minutes from Rowton Castle.

NUMBER TWO - The Author of the "WEDDING BIBLE" Sarah Haywood - whom I have quoted many times in my blog - with her full approval click on this link to go to her website - has just published THE WEDDING PLANNER - these 2 publications would be a marvellous addition to any Bride's preparation and planning filing system! The Wedding Bible is so packed with the best advice I have ever read about planning a wedding and The Wedding Planner lets you organise all your bits of paper and lists etc. All great mementos of your Wedding too! [by-the-way this is nothing more than me wanting to recommend the very best in my wedding blogs - which I aim to do all the time!]

Before I finish - I would like to post this testimonial from one of our Brides - these words are wonderful for us to read - if you have time please read Helen's words:

The photos made me cry...again and again!! Reviewer: Helen from Worcs

I have to say that the thing I was most nervous about when planning my wedding was choosing a photographer I felt that I could really trust with the most important part of the day (next to the ceremony that is). From the moment we met Julia and Martin I felt totally at ease and comfortable with them both, they understood what we wanted from our photos and I was so confident that I gave them our booking immediately, we didn't see anyone else, I didn't need to.

Julia was in constant contact with me on the run up to the wedding, organising a photo session at their home because I wanted a signature frame for our guests to sign, emailing to check I hadn't lost my mind and offering tons of advice, nothing was too much trouble for them.

On the big day, Julia and Martin were there from the start; Julia was on hand with her emergency kit, in case of any emergencies!! Throughout the 'before' photos, Julia was very calming and Martin was very funny, keeping us amused, proved by the numerous shots of me laughing my head off. During the ceremony, you would not have known they were there and the posed photos were done quickly and painlessly. The rest of the shots were reportage style as we had requested.

They stayed up until the first dance, and we genuinely were sorry to see them leave, they were so much a part of our day!! The photos were ready to review when we got back from our honeymoon, amazingly fast!! We were not prepared for the volume of shots that they had taken between them, over 800 pictures!! They were all amazing and it was hard to choose but we managed to select our favourites. 3 weeks later we met with Julia and Martin at home to view the layout of the album and it was beautiful, they let us have a say in how it was set out so it would be really personal.

We were so happy with it; I didn't think I could be happier.I was wrong. The album was ready for collection the week before Christmas and I travelled to Julia and Martins to see it. Martin was so excited; I swear he likes it more than me!!! When I opened the Queensberry case I was amazed by the photo cover, the tears came almost immediately!! The album really did tell our story, page by page, it captured the emotion, the happiness, the fun and lots of laughter!! We had a canvas wrap done too of our favourite photo, it sits on our wall and makes me smile every time I look at it!!

If I was asked to recommend one service to get right it would be the photos. You could not go wrong with Julia and Martin. They have become true friends to us and 3 months later I still email Julia nearly every day. Spinning Your Dreams really did create the album of our dreams, something to really cherish forever. Book them, it will be the best decision you make!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

WISHING YOU ALL A FABULOUS 2007!

I hope that you all had a great Christmas. We had Weddings right up to Christmas and two between Christmas and New Year which was lovely – it was so enjoyable to be in the hotels all decked out for the festive season.

For those of you who have a Wedding in 2007 and perhaps planning one for 2008 or even 2009 – I hope that you feel energised to continue or embark on the massive planning. Since having an advertisment in Bride and Vogue - we now have Weddings booked all over the Midlands and further a field too. Don't give our location [20 mins from Shrewsbury] a second thought - we travel where ever we are wanted! We are 10 minutes from Rowton Castle - where we love working and also 25 minutes from the Albright Hussey - again a very favourite venue of ours - as we got married there in 2003! Last year we found ourselves in Essex and Cheshire and on the Welsh Coast too!

TO HELP WITH YOUR PLANNING:

I would like to recommend two publications to you which would help you so much - The Wedding Bible [£25] and The Wedding Bible Planner [£25] both written by Sarah Haywood. I would say that the money invested in these two publications would be very well spent indeed. The Wedding Bible and the Planner would make great mementos of your Wedding Planning months – I didn’t have the Wedding Bible for Martin’s and my Wedding in 2003 – I wish I had. I have now bought it and I regularly quote it in my blogs.

Wedding Bible author Sarah Haywood is the ‘Wedding Doctor’. She regularly appears on television and radio in the UK and abroad and her weddings are featured in bridal and celebrity magazines. Her clients range from high-spend celebrities and aristocrats to those looking for glamour and style on a limited budget.

A former journalist and TV news presenter
Sarah now works alongside some of the best known names and companies in the wedding business; bridal designers, couture houses and the fashion famous, celebrity hairdressers and make-up artists, top photographers and videographers, leading hotels and country houses and florists to royalty and the stars. Many of them are featured in her books.

Sarah has very kindly added us to her Website Links as ‘People She Likes’.

PRIORITIES:

You may have a top six priorities which you would like to get booked or confirmed as soon as possible for your Wedding. I hope that one of them is your Wedding Photographers! Hopefully your list looks like this:

Wedding Date
Wedding Venues
Wedding Photographers
Wedding Dress
Wedding Party – bestman, bridesmaids and ushers
Wedding Flowers

During January and February - which are a little less busy for us - we would be delighted to meet you here informally at our home - just as a fact finding meeting for you both. We can talk about your Wedding and your Wedding Photography and show you our
fabulous Queensberry Albums.

OUR EXCLUSIVE AND UNIQUE ALBUMS:

Our Album Partners are Queensberry of New Zealand and they are virtually the best in the world. The options are so wide ranging - that you can have what you want. Traditionally, Digital or both within your own unique Album.

We have a display album at The Albright Hussey and one will be in Rowton Castle by the end of January.

Give me a ring [01938] 580055 – check with me that we are available on your Wedding Date - tell me your thoughts for your Wedding Photography and we can make a time for you to come and spend an hour or so with us - we will give you a package of information to take away and consider in your own time.

If you have time - please read my blogs from 2006 - full of tips and advice on planning your Wedding. If Martin and I were not called SPINNING YOUR DREAMS I think we would be called WEDDINGS R US! We are passionate about Weddings.

Again, Happy New Year to you all. Very best wishes,

Julia - one half of the duo - Julia and Martin Webb aka Spinning Your Dreams!

Words we love to hear!

I haven't got to grips with Dreamweaver yet to publish on our site - it is a January project! So I am posting 2 messages from Claire & John and Teresa and Will [Mr and Mrs Whitfield] because the words mean so much to us!

Hi Julia and Martin

We just wanted to say a massive thank you for our Wedding Album. We cannot put in words how pleased we both are with it. You have captured our day perfectly. We are so proud to show people, they all comment on how different it is and are blown away by the quality and everybody, including us are so impressed. Your passion for what you do makes you perfect for wedding photography, you wanted everything to be as perfect as we did!

We wish you both every success in the future, not that you will need it, your pure hard work and dedication will ensure that!

Thank you once again for everything.

Claire & John
xxxx
Albrighton Hall Hotel 5 August 2006

Hi both

We got back today and the first thing we did was look at the photos. They are wonderful. The more you look at them, they just get better and better. We love them.

I have copied them over to my computer so we can go through and pick out our favourites.....where do we start????

You captured our day perfectly and I think we may need your help with the final choices for our album. I have turned a few of them into black and white and they are just stunning!!!

I'm off to look at them again.

Lots of love

Mr & Mrs Whitfield xxxx

I've had many more over the last months but been a bit busy to publish - they will find themselves on our website soon! Warm regards. Julia

What are you doing in January?

Hi there!

If you are planning your Wedding - be it for 2007 - 2008 or 2009 you may be buying the Bridal Magazines out there for inspiration! Catch our advert in Bride and also in Vogue in January's issue.

Martin and I know it can be a little anticlimactic after Christmas - it is also a great chance to start getting all your boxes ticked and organising all your suppliers for your 2007 Wedding - even your 2008/9 Wedding - look at our Venues pages for ideas.

We are not as busy in January as we are during the rest of the year and it would be a really wonderful opportunity to use those free Saturdays and Sundays to welcome couples to our home and have a good chat about their Weddings and show them our truly beautiful display Albums from
Queensberry - New Zealand.

We have just put a new fabulous display album in
The Albright Hussey Manor Hotel in Shrewsbury [25 mins from us] - if you have a chance over Christmas and the New Year - go and have a look - it is in the lounge. You may consider the Albright Hussey for your Wedding Venue!

We will also have a great new display Album in
Rowton Castle Hotel near Shrewsbury [and 15 mins from us] maybe before Christmas but definitely in the New Year. Again - go and have a look - it will be in the lounge. Rowton Castle - a wonderful Wedding Venue too!

So we believe January can be a time for getting things moving with your 2007 or 2008 or 2009 Wedding. We are getting booked up for 2007 and a quick ring to me will see if we are available on your date. We could put a date in our diaries for a meeting when we could all have a chat for an hour or so about your Wedding. No obligation - just to meet and see what your ideas are for your Big Day!

We'd love to hear from you - please ring any time - if you don't get us leave a message and we will ring you back. Or please email julia@spinningyourdreams.co.uk

Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Fantastic 2007!

Warm regards. Julia and Martin Webb - Spinning Your Dreams - "the best way to remember!"

Words from a Groom

Hi everyone - I haven't been blogging of late - Martin and I have had a very busy summer season which has been great! We are now going into our Autumn/Winter Season and I just thought I would post a blog!

We were pleased to be the first photographers to shoot a Wedding at The Coach House at Delbury Hall near Craven Arms, Shropshire back in June. It is a beautiful setting and such a fabulous private venue for a Wedding. We had a wonderful day with Sarah and Fraser and Fraser has very kindly written these words which I thought I would share with you as we have not scheduled an update of our website yet and this testimonial will go on the website then! Fraser - we are sure - would be pleased to talk to any prospective couples on the phone if they wanted to speak to him!

Martin and Julia of Spinning Your Dreams provide one of the best services I have ever experienced in any industry. I cannot recommend them highly enough as wedding photographers. They provided a product that stands out from other photographers, they provided it with a professional attitude, their attitude was extraordinarily supportive, and they demonstrated commitment to ensuring that our wedding day was how we wanted it.

In terms of product, we were offered full day coverage, with reportage and formal photographs, from the start of the day until the first dance. It is important to note that you get two photographers with Spinning Your Dreams. This gives you a much better chance of collecting great candid shots from even the most camera shy guest , as the guests relax once the most obvious photographer has shot a photo, and the second photographer gets a great shot from another angle. We had a huge number of photographs to choose from.

The album choice is phenomenal. There are a huge variety of album covers, formats, and options for each page of the album.

Professionally, all our queries were responded to quickly, and we had every confidence at every stage in the performance of Spinning Your Dreams. In a marked difference form many wedding contractors, the original prices are clear and do not hide any VAT or other costs that can blow your budget.

One striking aspect was that Martin and Julia encouraged other photographers amongst the guests to get any shots they wanted. Martin's explanation for this - offered before the wedding - is his confidence that Spinning Your Dreams can offer photographs that amateur photographers will not have the skills to capture. This meant that all the guests were able to participate. In one or two incidents, Martin even agreed to snap a group shot with other people's cameras. While this was a slightly cheeky request from our guests, it shows just how friendly and accommodating Martin and Julia are.

Finally, Martin and Julia make you feel very special. That is difficult to explain - but if you meet them, you will understand how they can help you feel like the most important people in the world on your wedding day.

Sarah and Fraser - 15 June 2006 - Delbury Hall, Shropshire

Sarah and Fraser wanted a very relaxed day and photojournalistic coverage where their photographs were concerned. They fully briefed us and that is indeed what we did for them.

If you have booked your Wedding Date and Venue for 2007-2008. I would encourage you to get in touch with us if you would like us to be there on your Wedding Day and on your Team for that day!

Between June and September next year we only have five Saturdays left!

It won't do any harm to just ring me and see if we are free on your date. We can have a chat on the phone [I love to know what couples are planning for their Weddings and I am just as passionate about it all as they are] - I can send our Price List in an email and you can - of course - come and see us! We do see couples in the evening and some Sundays and weekdays.

I have said this before but please don't leave your Wedding Photography too late - it's the tangible record of your Big Day!

All the best and warm regards. Julia :-)

The Wedding Week

Hi - Good Morning! Friday yet again!

We have a Wedding today and Saturday and Saturday's is in Essex! What I would just like to say at the beginning of this blog is that we do travel! If it is logistically possible to be at a Wedding then we will be there!

I know we live 15 minutes from Shrewsbury [and 8 mins from Rowton] - just into Wales - in the gorgeous Welsh Countryside - I would say that this should not be a concern for you wherever in the UK or further a field you live or your Wedding will be! Just wanted to say that today! :-) We are working now-a-days in Cheshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire - as well as Shropshire and Mid-Wales! And Essex too!

I've been in close contact this week with both the couples for today and tomorrow and this brings me to my subject today - The Wedding Week!

Excellent information in Sarah Haywood's book the "Wedding Bible" about a Checklist for the Wedding Day and a Schedule. It's a gorgeous book and such a lovely memento of all your planning and so very helpful!

In the week before the Big Day have confidence in those to whom you have entrusted your day! Martin and I are totally part of the team on the day and we will help in any way we can! It's been said more than once that we are more than photographers!

When you look through your checklist try and delegate to a trusted friend or relative and for the day decide who will be in charge and IT SHOULD NOT BE EITHER OF YOU!

  • I always carry a kit with me on the Wedding Day that has: sewing kit, pins and safety pins, sticky tape [to remove pollen] and loads of other things including headache tablets! So I always have that to hand and I do use it quite a lot! We also have water on a hot day at a Church Service.

  • In the days before your Wedding try and get some rest. Avoid alcohol and drink plenty of water!

  • On the Big Day - try and have some breakfast - the dress will still fit! I have had Brides tell me that is why they did not eat and then they are swimmy headed. Get dressed somewhere quiet with good light and power points for hair dryers etc.

  • I have noticed that when all the girls get ready together there are loads of bags in the Bridal Suite. Someone should be delegated to remove them so that you don't have bridesmaids knocking on the door on your Wedding Night! Sarah Haywood suggests putting luggage tags on the bags with their destination for the night!

  • I think a tip I would pass on is that the Groom and the Best Man and the Ushers all get their button holes on as soon as possible. The Groom and Best Man do usually remember - but the Ushers are in the photographs before the ceremony too!

  • Try and let the nerves go - you will have planned a brilliant support team and Martin and I could be there too!

So your Wedding Day ....... [tips from the "Wedding Bible"]

  • You will both feel loads of different emotions and they are all normal!
  • Your mood and behaviour are contagious though - everyone is there to support you and so smile and make eye contact.
  • Have a smile for your Groom and for your Father.
  • Take your time entering the room/church.
  • This is your moment under the spotlight, the one time in your life when it is all about you!
  • When the ceremony is over the celebrating begins!

Now I would say - but I am totally and utterly biased - that your Wedding Day needs to be the dream day you've planned and you need photographic evidence of that dream coming true - you need Spinning Your Dreams! There I had to say it! :-) I think I am allowed!

If your Wedding happens to be very close - we wish you the Best Day of Your Lives! Enjoy yourselves - it will all go by very quickly indeed!

Martin and I adore Weddings - we love being there and we love photographing them - I hope that through my blogs and our website that you have got that idea! :-)

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend. Until next Friday. Warm regards. Julia :-)

Are You About To Plan Your Wedding?

Good Morning! Yet another Friday – these weeks seem to go by so quickly during the busy Wedding Season!

I haven’t picked a specific subject for this Friday’s blog because I wanted to say a few things more generally about planning a Wedding.

Hiring and Firing – do not hire anyone or anything until you have seen or sampled their wares

• Wear-in your wedding shoes. It will give brides who are not used to walking in high heels a chance to practice

• Organise with a close friend to have an emergency wedding kit, just for the bride, containing makeup and a repair kit for the wedding dress, so you can be ready for any minor hiccups through the day

• Order your foreign currency and /or travellers cheques

• Give the best man a list of all the wedding services involved in your wedding day, in case they need to be contacted

Next week I plan to write my blog about the Wedding Week including a Checklist and a Wedding Day Schedule. The days leading up to your Wedding Day can end up being not only very exciting but very stressful too. It's all in the planning and now it is in the double-checking! Creating a Wedding Day Schedule - says Sarah Haywood - allows everyone involved to know what is happening and when. More on that next Friday!

I hope that you all have a fabulous weekend. Warm regards. Julia

The Wedding Cake

Hi everyone! Friday again! :-)

Martin and I were extremely lucky back in 2003 as Martin's Sister, Christine, made the most fantastic Wedding Cake for us! We know that if there is a member of family who is good at cakes - they do often make the Wedding Cake for the happy couple and that is always a very personal and special thing!

You can always ask your Wedding Venue who they recommend for Wedding Cakes.

When planning your Wedding Cake - keep in mind how many people it has to feed!

Will you want several flavours and will you want to keep a layer for a future occasion?

Will you want to send cake to absent friends and family?

Will you serve the cake as dessert?

All good advice from the "Wedding Bible" by Sarah Haywood - visit her website - you can buy her Wedding Bible at a discount on the site. It is a lovely book as a momento of your planning and full of time schedules and very good advice from Sarah and other experts!

Sarah tells me that she soon to publish a new wedding planning tool. A folder [and accessories] in which you can put all your planning information and swatches etc. She will have it available on her site as soon as it is ready! :-)

The history of wedding cakes is a fascinating one, with a story that starts with the celebration of nuptials as far back as ancient Roman times when a simple cake of wheat or barley would have been broken over the bride's head in order to ensure her future fertility. Guests would scramble to obtain a crumb for themselves, a custom that led to the sharing of the modern traditional wedding cake.

Eventually the cake evolved in both size and decoration until breaking it over the bride's head became impractical, if not impossible!

Medieval England saw the introduction of mounds of small buns, a fashion that has gone full circle with the re-introduction of the individual cup cake tower as a popular alternative to the traditionally tiered wedding cake.

The bride and groom would traditionally try to kiss over the top of the tower without knocking the cakes down. If successful, prosperity and health would await the lucky couple. For convenience the small cakes were eventually frosted together with sugar.

Thanks to a visiting French chef during the mid-1600s, wedding cake design took a distinct turn towards the style of cake we're familiar with today. The Frenchman's aversion to cakes falling to the floor prompted him to design an alternative, the tiered and frosted cake, a wedding cake design that quickly caught on and that has since held its popularity.

The history of wedding cakes then started out on its last leg before reaching the traditional wedding cakes we have today, mostly due to brides striving to outdo each other. The more admiration a wedding cake design received, the greater the chance of a marriage steeped in good fortune and peace.

Demands for larger, more elaborate wedding cakes appeared as the number of guests celebrating the happy couple grew. Big receptions meant big wedding cakes that often took months to create. Understandably, without the luxury of modern refrigeration, cakes made from dried fruit and fats became popular because of their longevity in the larder. A thick sugar frosting helped prevent moisture loss, ensuring the cake would be moist and tasty when finally served and devoured. Wedding cake history had taken the final step along the road to the cake we know today.

Before the Victorian era, only the rich could afford the very finest sugars needed to make pure white icing. This resulted in the white wedding cake design becoming a symbol of wealth rather than purity, as is often believed.

The Second World War forced brides to be imaginative in order to have a beautiful wedding cake using limited ingredients. As sugar was rationed and therefore scarce, cakes were generally reduced in size and, so as to resemble a traditional wedding cake design, served inside a box decorated with plaster of Paris.

Whenever we see a bride and groom cutting the wedding cake, we're witnessing a very long tradition of the bride vowing to help her groom wherever possible, and when they proceed to feed one another from that first slice they're committing to provide for one another forever.

One superstition says that if a bridesmaid puts a piece of the wedding cake under her pillow she will dream of her future husband!

Now that you know the history, wedding cakes will never be quite the same again. They are, after all, far more than 'just a cake'.

We do recommend a very good Cake Supplier in Shrewsbury - they made Martin's Daughter's Wedding Cake in June this year and it was magnificent. So do give them a try Cake Creators, Frankwell, Shrewsbury [01743] 361415

I haven't decided on the subject of my blog next Friday - so it will have to be a surprise! :-)

If you are reading this on Friday 25 August - have a great weekend. Warmest regards. Julia :-)
